Join Stephie from Hoop & Fred and make your very own Bargello badge!

Bargello is a type of needlepoint that uses simple straight stitches to create bold, colourful patterns — a bit like stitching with pixels. Choose from stripes, zig-zags and geometric designs, then stitch your own piece before turning it into a wearable pin badge to take home.

In this relaxed drop-in workshop, you’ll learn the Bargello basics and spend a little time slowing down and enjoying creating together. This activity takes a little longer than some of our other drop in sessions, but it’s a chance for kids and grown ups to slow down and enjoy creating together. This activity is suitable for children ages 7 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tapestry needles aren’t as sharp as regular needles but little thumbs will still need to be careful (big thumbs too).
This is a drop-in session, just pop by. If we’re busy, there may be a short wait to get started. Stephie will be on hand throughout to guide you stitch by stitch.

Further Information

Younger children may find the needlepoint tricky, but they will need more guidance from their accompanying adult. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Safety notes:  Tapestry needles are blunter than traditional embroidery needles but still sharp, so all participants will be advised when joining the workshop to watch out.

If we are busy we may set up a queue system as this activity can only be done by 10 people per hour.
