When Lockdown is lifted
Life won’t be the same
Alterations and changes in so many ways
We can’t just return to the good old days
Some will stride out fearlessly
Glad to meet and greet again
With a hug, a kiss, a cuddle.
But will we still want to?
Will babies remember their grannies?
Or will they scream
At this wrinkled face only seen
On a screen
I meet someone not seen for months
Don’t recognise her behind the mask
I almost said
“I thought you were dead.”
Stopped myself just in time.
See what Covid
Has done to me.
When the courts re-open
Will there be supermarket-style queues
As couples locked down together
Clamour to marry – or to part?
