Spotlight On: Emma Rucastle

Here at Spot On one of our main jobs is to bring fantastic artists to Lancashire. Well, that’s been scuppered at the moment! But we’re not an easy bunch to keep down, so we thought, that while we can’t support artists in our usual way, or bring you fantastic shows we’d switch our spotlights from the stage to the web as it were.

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be featuring local Lancashire artists and creatives, alongside those artists who were booked to be part of our Spring season. We’ll be sharing information about digitally streamed shows, online workshops you can join in with, and hopefully giving you a list as long as your arm of people and places to visit when life returns to normal! So without further ado here is our first Spotlight…

1. Who are you and where are you based?

My name is Emma Rucastle and I live in Lancaster.

2. What do you normally do?

I’m a freelance theatre practitioner, which involves working with a wide range of people in theatres and educational and community settings, leading drama workshops on a variety of themes and putting on performances. I also write and do some performance. Additionally, I am part of the #funpalaces movement, celebrating community, Arts and Sciences in all their forms.

3. What are you doing at the moment?

I am currently trialling online drama workshops – two so far. I am looking at developing these and creating some focussed, fun sessions for different ages and experience levels. I have also been doing a little audio spoken word performance.

4. Where can people find you?

I am running the drama workshops from ELART Productions on Facebook currently. Full information also on #elartproductions on Twitter and Instagram. I am also sharing fun drama prompts three times a week in the same places.

5. Your top tip for staying creative/inspired/busy while at home? (could be a book, a favourite recipe, a quick creative prompt)

I love the @64M_Artists creative prompts and there are also lots of ideas on the #funpalaces thread.
