Spot On Shorts – a new season of stories made just for you

A new season of Spot On Shorts will premiere on October 22, and will be free to watch on facebook and YouTube. Following an acclaimed first season in the Spring, this Autumn programme has been produced in partnership with Lancashire Libraries and The Space and will see one short film per week over six weeks. The programme features performances from professional writers, storytellers and actors and has been commissioned by Spot On Lancashire.

Spot On Shorts are designed to offer a ten minute respite from the news or the stress of lockdown. Wherever you are or whatever you’re doing, take ten minutes to enjoy a brand new performance made just for you.

This season includes new writing about women inspired by an old Scottish lullaby from poet, Ellen Renton; a retelling of an old Gujarat tale about the earth by storyteller Peter Chand and a humorous take on memorial benches by actor, Jake Oldershaw.

The first season of ten minute stories was our response to the lockdown back in March. Funded by Lancashire County Council and Arts Council England, it was a way to keep contact with our audiences and provide a much needed, if small, employment opportunity to freelance artists. What started as a mini project to occupy the team and entertain audiences resulted in 25 artists employed and over 30,000 views across platforms. Season Two continues to build on these needs for the Lancashire community with a focus on mental wellbeing.

Season Two events will be added to the What’s On page over the coming weeks:
