Local residents in Padiham had the opportunity to see renowned Spanish guitarist, Howard Haigh playing live in their library on Saturday 23rd September.
Howard, who has been entertaining enraptured viewers for three decades, performed a selection of Flamenco and Classical guitar music alongside songs by popular artists such as The Beatles and Santana, and genres such as Blues and Folk. Howard takes his musical influences from around the world to create a thoroughly enjoyable musical experience.
Alison James, Library Manager at Padiham sent in her review of the show:
“The audience absolutely loved Howard’s performance. Howard and the audience enjoyed the intimacy of the event in our library – the atmosphere was very relaxed and easy going with conversations between Howard and audience members between numbers and during the interval. The close proximity meant that the guitar was very easily heard and the techniques Howard used to get the different sounds were visible. The variety of music he plays is very inclusive, with Spanish, English folk, Blues, Moroccan and even The Beatles being performed.”
“This was Padiham Library’s first Spot On event although the library staff have promoted other events in the past. It really brought together lots of people from our community, some of whom we didn’t know very well prior to the event and now who are on first name terms with us. The feedback from those attending was so positive that we all felt the effort of organising and staffing the event was very worthwhile and demonstrated everything that is positive about the library service and our cultural offer.”
Tickets are still available for Howard Haigh – Solo Spanish Guitar at The Dog Inn, Belthorn (Sat 30th Sept) and Fraser Hall, Cowan Bridge (Sat 7th Oct). Please visit the Spot On website for booking details: www.spotonlancashire.co.uk/whats-on/solo-spanish-guitar-plus/
