Swiss children’s tale in Lancashire libraries

A brand new theatre show for children, based on a traditional Swiss tale, is coming to Lancashire’s libraries in April.

“Pitschi, The Kitten With Dreams”, from Theatre Fideri Fidera will visit Heysham Library on Wednesday 13 April for two performances at 2pm and 4pm. The show will then travel to The Harris Library in Preston the following day on Thursday 14 April at 11am and 2pm.

Tickets for the show, which is suitable for ages 2-7 and their families, are available directly from library staff at the venues. For more information, call 0300 1236703.

Little Swiss kitten, Pitschi, lives with her brothers and sisters, Grandma Lisette and Bello the dog on a farm high up in the Swiss Alps. She doesn’t like the rough and tumble and mischievous fun of kitten play and dreams of being something else.

Pitschi would rather be any other animal in the world – a chicken, a goat, a duck…anything, as long as it isn’t a cat! She goes off on an exciting adventure around the farm to meet the other animals, but with winter approaching; will she find her way home before the first snow falls?

Audiences are invited to come and enjoy this touching tale full of good humour, adventure, live music and song. The performances last approximately 45 minutes each.

This play is based on Swiss author and illustrator Hans Fischer’s award-winning picture book, “Pitschi”, a tale that has delighted generations of children – and cat lovers – all around the world.

Speaking ahead of the tour, star of the show, Natasha Granger said:

“Pitschi and I are so excited to be bringing our little show to the libraries of Lancashire.

Little Swiss kitten Pitschi does not like being a cat, she would much rather be a goat, or a duck, or a rabbit perhaps? Come and join us on our adventure around Grandma’s farm in the Alps, with lots of music, animals, and humour! We know it will be a pawesome show!”
