Scottish singer-songwriter tours Lancashire

A renowned Scottish singer-songwriter will bring her tour to three Lancashire libraries and a village hall this month.

Elsa Jean McTaggart, who performs alongside her husband Gary Lister, will perform in Morecambe, Nelson and Tarleton Libraries as well as Samlesbury War Memorial Hall towards the end of April.

The duo will play Morecambe at 7pm on Wednesday 19 April, Nelson on Thursday 20 April at 7pm, Tarleton on Friday 21 April at 6.30pm, before finishing in Samlesbury on Saturday 22 April at 7.30pm.

With her fabulous velvet voice and rich sultry tones, Elsa weaves a colourful tapestry of vivid anecdotes from her unusual past and life on the road. This is combined with evocative song (think contemporary folk sprinkled with Bluesy Jazz), interspersed with her own compositions, from dynamic jigs and reels to wildly haunting Celtic airs on the Fiddle, Penny Whistle and Button box.

Not only a passionate and masterful musician, Elsa is chatty, funny and engagingly entertaining. With poetic fluency and an easy rapport with the audience, she draws you into a magical dream.

The shows form part of Spot On Lancashire’s spring season of touring, taking professional arts events to rural venues and libraries across the county.

Speaking ahead of the Lancashire gigs, Elsa said:

“I grew up one of 11 children on a small holding in the Scottish highlands with no electricity but plenty of musical instruments for entertainment however it wasn’t until the age of 20 I realised that my passion was music and song writing, first teaching myself the fiddle followed by the guitar, penny whistle and button box.

“Myself and Gary love travelling and rural touring gives us the chance to bring our music to people in their own area and to meet the community. We find the concerts can be more intimate and we have time to chat and answer questions.”

Tickets for the performances, which are suitable for all ages, can be purchased directly from the venues. The library shows can be booked from library staff or by emailing either, or and the Samlesbury show can be booked by calling 01772 877248.
