A tasty new show for 2017!

A brand new theatre show that is part play and part cookery demonstration will visit five Lancashire venues in February.

“The Chef Show”, from Ragged Edge Productions, will travel to the Lowther Pavilion, Lytham on Wednesday 8 February at 7.30pm. From there it will head to The Centre @ Halton on Thursday 9 February at 7pm, followed by The Rainhall Centre, Barnoldswick on Friday 10 February at 7pm and Dunsop Bridge Village Hall on Saturday 11 February at 7.30pm. The final performance will take place at The Bureau – Centre For The Arts, Blackburn on Sunday 12 February at 3pm.

Father and son, Abdul and Kamal, are having a particularly busy night in their restaurant. As they struggle to deal with all of the customers ‘out front’ and the staff in the kitchen they also have to decide on the future of the curry house. Will Kamal carry on the family business, or is this the end?

The cast of the show are joined on stage by a chef from your very own local Indian restaurant – who will be offering a spicy cookery demonstration. All to be followed by a chance to share food and conversation with your local chef and the cast. The play is written by Nick Ahad and directed by Stefan Escreet.

Speaking ahead of the show, Escreet said:

“The Chef Show was originally inspired by an event in my local village hall and it’s been a delight to make a show that will be seen in similar venues right across the North.  Our partnerships with local restaurants and takeaways are crucial and the enthusiasm and generosity of the owners and staff has been really encouraging. We’re hoping the audience will have a great night out and learn a little about the people running these businesses in the community.”

“The Chef Show” forms part of Spot On Lancashire’s spring season of touring, taking professional arts events to village halls and libraries across the county. The show recently sold out at The Arts Centre, Burscough Wharf in January.
